2008 Trend in Marketing Success, presented by Michael Lemm

It's that time of year to celebrate the year, our Love, our accomplishments and reflect on some stumbles experienced.

Predictions 2007 (written in 2002)


Below is the result of an email exchange with my good friend Peter Arnold of the MLM-DRA (Distributor Rights Association). Most of it will be edited and paraphrased as much as possible due to the length.

Hopefully you'll take the overall message to heart....change is coming (or any many cases has come) and we ALL need to be prepared if we're not already. Now some may not agree and that's OK. Everyone must choose and take action for themselves.

IF we wish to become truly successful as Home Biz Entrepreneurs - IF we wish to take our Home Businesses to a whole NEW LEVEL next year, and well beyond - this is also the time of year that we need to engage in some very serious "reflection" and to activate some intelligent "planning ahead" - as we no longer have a choice.

If we are interested in surviving the rapid CHANGE that's taking place right now within our industry....we must act sooner rather than later. Acting too late could spell disaster....individually, by company, and for the industry as a whole.

Here's how Paul sees it...

Bottom Line #1 - Times have CHANGED forever - there's no looking back - no longer are the Old School methods working - no longer will it be "business as usual" in the Home Biz // Network Marketing industry - no longer will "companies" that do not embrace [and adapt to] the INTERNET continue to grow.

Bottom Line #2 - We are ALL affected by this tital-wave of forces - we cannot turn our backs on this, and hope it will just 'go away'. No longer will WE be able to build successful futures unless we take steps to adapt to the above [change is usually painful for most of us]. WE must find ways to truly "differentiate" ourselves from the masses in future - to work on developing our 'individual' UAFs (Unique Attraction Factors).

Perhaps more importantly, we need to be "thankful" for these [uncomfortable] red-alerts - and to "welcome" them as obstacles that we WILL overcome.

These paradigm shifts are healthy challenges to our creative power and ingenuity - WE put man on the Moon - WE led the world with inventions / medical cures / technology / on and on - - - WE can survive [and "thrive" with!] any turbulance we might encounter in the months and years ahead! :-)

"The Future Of Networking In An Online World....Important Trends & predictions For 2008 And Beyond"

Here we are facing another year in an increasingly crazy, chaotic world.

And chaos can be a funny thing... With it, comes both confusion and opportunity, depending on how you see the world and how you prepare.

Personally, I choose to look for and seize opportunity, and believe me... There are more today than ever before as long as you're willing to look for them.

I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention, but the industry has changed dramatically in the last twelve months.

All you needed to build an organization in 2006 were a simple capture page and a Google PPC account. Oh how I miss those days...

Now there's YouTube, video email, social networking and book marking... All of which are entire specialities with their own tricks of the trade to learn.

So what's next for our little industry of networking in a world that's now changing by the year instead of the decade?

Well as 2007 comes to a close, I’ve spent a lot of time at my desk thinking about just that, and I'm sharing my predictions for 2008 with you, so that you may use them to improve your life and the lives of others in the year to come.

Observation #1: “Attraction Marketing Goes From
“Secret Weapon Status” To Main Stream In 2007”

The past five years have been extremely interesting for networkers thanks to the internet. Changes have come quickly, and been quite dramatic at times, but let there be no doubt… 2007 represented THE massive turning point for all of us, from which there is no return.

For better or worse, the internet has changed the very economics of networking, which has forced a shift in the way distributors pursue their business in all aspects, from advertising, to budgeting, to positioning, to relationship building, and monetization.

In many ways for a growing number of networkers, the goal has shifted away from building a “downline” to something entirely different.

So let’s start with the obvious....

If you haven’t noticed, the old fashioned sales routine of cold calling leads, holding meetings, knocking on doors, and trying to convince people to look at your opportunity is officially DEAD.

It’s been made obsolete in an all-knowing market that’s been wholly diagnosed with A.D.D.

The next generation of computers will probably have a Ritalin dispenser built right in the monitor just so you can remain functional as you’re bombarded with emails, pop-ups, and the latest Britney Spears YouTube video each day.

We’ve all read or at least heard of Faith Popcorn’s “cocooning” prediction made over a decade ago, which simply means that people don’t want to be bothered, and it’s more true today than ever before.

Company’s hang “No Soliciting” signs on their doors, prospect’s don’t answer unrecognized phone numbers, and heck… I don’t even accept personal voicemail anymore.

We’ve been forced to seek shelter from unwanted solicitations, and to become very quick at filtering the information we do allow into our lives into one of two categories…

1: I still want this.
2: I no longer want this.

Those of you who continue to pursue and hunt for new business by cold-calling leads, pushing your business, and using old fashioned, outdated, un-leveraged manual labor methods, are violating every trend. You're wasting huge amounts of time and money, annoying potential customers, and missing out on massive opportunities.

But there is a solution, and it’s no secret. I’ve been teaching it to networkers since 2005 in Magnetic Sponsoring, and you can simply sum it up like this…

Your prospects have an endless ocean of distractions and options to chose from which are only a click away. Everytime they get online, they’re bombarded with ads.

If you're going to effectively sell to the market today, you're going to have to find a way to get invited - not as an unwelcome pest, but as a welcomed guest.

You need to stand out in this vast sea of distractions, and do one thing: Establish yourself as a REAL, trusted valuable resource.

And who finds who first is very important when it comes to establishing that position between you and your prospect, and getting the open-door invitation.

When he/she finds and contacts you, you have all the power and value. The prospect pleads to give you his/her business, just as you have to pursue an appointment with the best doctor in town.

When you contact him/her first, he/she has all of the power and value. You plead with the prospect to give you his/her business.

This approach went from “secret weapon” status over the past few years, to main-stream in 2007 in a BIG way. An enormous amount of people are practicing Magnetic Sponsoring methods today, (as they should), because your individuality as a person is the only real way to cut through the enormous amount of clutter online, and establish trust.

There are 10,000 opportunities and 1,000,000’s of websites, but there’s only 1 of you.

With so many options to choose from, your prospects don’t know who to listen to, and they don’t know who to trust. They are frantically searching for someone to fill that void whom they can build a relationship with.

Be that person.

And take note: Those who chose to ignore this approach are going to find it very difficult to compete with, and advertise along-side those who do use it. My Prediction For 2008:

As even more distributors begin to adopt this approach, it’s not going to be enough to simply put up a personal branding page and give away a free report of some kind.
In order to stay ahead of the curve, savvy distributors are going to need to do three things:

1: Raise The Quality And Uniqueness Of Your Information.

This will be necessary in order to stand out from the growing “me-to” crowd who’s simply re-teaching what they’ve learned about free lead generation and attraction marketing.

When the herd goes left, you need to find a way to go right. I don’t mean that you must do the opposite, just do something different.

Look for a unique angle. Look for a unique way to present yourself and your website in order to boost your results above your competitor’s.

You see Mike Filsaime and Ellie Drake trying to do this right now with their new reports that reveal the impact of the internet on the networking industry, creating what they call, “Networking 2.0”

And they’re right. For those of you who have been with us since the beginning of Magnetic Sponsoring, we “revealed” that information in 2005, and provided the most detailed (and still definitive), course on the subject in Traffic Formula almost two years ago.

Unfortunately “Networking 2.0” already happened 4-5 years ago when PPC, replicated sites, streaming-audio, flash presentations, and autoresponders went mainstream. Those things represented an industry shift over the previous 30+ years which relied on tapes, fax machines, and the phone. (Networking 1.0).

If we’re going to designate the evolution of the industry with a number, then we’re well on our way to 3.0 at this point thanks to social networking and what's now the equivalent of online television. So welcome to the party guys. Fashionably late is better than never!

So here’s the second way to stay ahead of the curve in 2008 and beyond…

2: Increase Traffic And Exposure In Order To Gain Traction And Acceptance In The Market Place.

Achieving high visibility and multiple exposures are seen as signs of social proof by the market place.

This is one of those genetic instincts tied to human attraction psychology discussed in Black Belt Recruiting, which you can tap into.

When you see one person eat a plant or food you don’t recognize, you know it is safe to eat as well. It’s an incredible time-saving, and even life-saving mechanism that allows people to take short-cuts and make quick decisions as we go about our lives, instead of having to stop and research every new item or circumstance we come into contact with.

As your prospects see you in more places and with increasing frequency, they will pay more attention to you and give you an opportunity to be their trusted solution provider because your “safety and value” is inherently demonstrated and proven by the fact that you’ve already been accepted by others.

The number of ways you can increase your exposure online today is almost infinite. In fact, they’re so numerous, they’ve created an entirely new problem you and I will have to deal with.

Obviously I’m talking about social networking and video platforms such as MySpace, FaceBook and YouTube which have given any Average Joe the ability to broadcast a message and reach hundreds of millions of people around the world at NO COST.

Dane Cook built his entire multi-million dollar career, and became the hottest comic of 2007 using little more than his MySpace page.

The individuals who take advantage of these massive new traffic sources can quickly and easily increase their exposure to a level that places them in consciousness of the average person within their target market, enabling them to rise above the noise within the rest of their market place.

But getting the traffic is one thing. In order to keep the attention of your traffic and capture it within your marketing funnel, you’ll need to…

3: Become A Master Story-Teller.

As Rich Schefren, Perry Marshall, and many others have pointed out, we’re in the “Attention Age” where the attention of your prospects is the most prized resource in the world, because it's so hard to capture.

And you have one goal .... To get and keep the attention of your prospects and customers, causing them to pursue you, instead of you hunting them down.

So imagine that your average prospect is sitting in front of their computer. They’ve had three Red Bulls and their morning dose of Star Bucks… Venti-sized of course.

Every 20 seconds, a new email signals its arrival in Outlook with the ceremonial “ding”, which is immediately followed by an instant message from Uncle Bob warning them about a new computer virus – moving their focus away from your message, towards these never-ending distractions.

As a marketer, you need to get grab their attention and get them to listen for just a moment, despite these distractions, before they send your latest email to its demise.

How?

Simple.

You do it the same way every parent gets their two-year-old carpet shark to sit still for a minute…

You get them involved in an interesting and entertaining story.

Yes, you’ll be able to get by if you’re just providing great information, but if you want to explode your results in tomorrow’s market, you’ll need to combine that information with personality and a story that’s at least mildly captivating.

Again, the key word here is "involved".

This isn’t a “new” strategy. It’s been used by marketers and salesmen since the beginning of time, but it’s definitely increased in importance in a world that’s been diagnosed with A.D.D.

Are your emails simple, one-time communications? If so, how can you find a way to turn them into a multi-part story?

If all things are equal... The opportunity, the product, or the quality of information, then he who is the most interesting will win.

Old Man IF..... is he hounding You

Seem like no matter what Business a person chooses, Internet Marketing, MLM Marketing, Direct Mail, Direct Response Marketing and even Brick & Mortar Retail......
We are many times plagued by Nagging Doubt and Fear.

Learn How To Enjoy Your Life
By Having More Money and The Time to Spend It...


This is a Note I received today from Clay Page, the owner of Everything for Success, one of the most Comprehensive Web 2.0 Social/Business Site on the Net.

From Clay Page:I want to thank you for taking the time to visit today and by doing so, I assume you are seriously seeking ways to increase the pleasures in your life, and as we all know, many times it starts by increasing the amount of cash-flow we have coming in.

But we know it is much more than about having more money, it is about having the time to enjoy what we want to do, once money is no longer an obstacle.

Here is a very simple overview of what EFS's Earn $500 or more per hour course offers.
• Develop a plan to stop earning less from your work time.
• Then develop a plan to get paid more for doing less work.
Now those may seem to be one in the same, but when you think about it for a moment, there are as light and dark, nothing in common. First you have to have a plan to stop, and then, a plan to start to fill the void of stopping something that is not helping you achieve your goals. It is much more than saying you're going to quit doing something and not knowing what you're going to fill that time with.

You'll be surprised how easy the concept of planning to stop and planning to start is when you take the course.

Creating Wealth Requires Two Simple Steps:
1. Decrease the amount of time you work. ( Relative Time)
2. Increase the amount you're paid for working. ( Relative Income)
To help bring this concept into a better light, lets consider the following examples of Absolute Vs. Relative Time, and, Absolute Vs. Relative Income.
Relative Time

Tom works 60 hours a week for $60,000 a year salary.
Sue works 10 hours a week for $15,000 a year income.

When you calculate the hourly pay Tom and Sue earns, you see that Sue is earning more than Tom, and that is the concept of Relative Time (doing more with less time).

It is more about the amount you earn per hour that you work, and not so much as how much money your job pays by the hour.

Lets do the math to show what I mean.

Tom: Works 60 hours a week times 50 weeks a year (assuming Tom receives 2 weeks a year vacation) and that totals up to 3,000 hours a year Tom works for his $60,000 salary. That equates to $20 per hour that Tom is paid for every hour he works.

($60,000 divided by 3,000 hours equals $20 per hour worked)

Sue: Works 10 hours a week times 50 weeks a year (assuming Sue takes off for 2 weeks a year for vacation) and that totals up to 500 hours a year Sue works for her $15,000 income. That equates to $30 per hour Sue is paid for every hour she works.

($15,000 divided by 500 hours equals $30 per hour worked)

Summary of Example: Relative Time
In this example it shows that Sue works 6 times LESS than Tom and earns more per hour than Tom. Sue has 6 times more freedom to enjoy her life, and that is the first secret or step to building and enjoying the wealth you create in your life. Of course Sue may need more income to live the life she desires, but the key is to earn more per hour that you work.

The Moral of the story
is it doesn't matter how many hours you work, it is how well you work at earning the most from every hour that you work. When you can earn more and have more time for yourself, you are positioned to enjoy your life to the fullest.

Relative Income

Lets explore what Relative Income is and why it is the KEY to building wealth.

First, what is Relative Income?

Relative Income are those work projects that you work on ONCE, and once completed, you get paid over and over again without doing any MORE WORK.

The life cycle of a Relative Income product can be years and years. There really is no limit on how long or the amount of money a relative income product can earn you.

Relative Income is the result of an investment you made that pays you dividends or interest. Real estate is a good example of relative income and most people refer to it as a passive asset. Passive assets are the ingredients to building wealth.

Clue...

The majority of people will INVEST their money in passive assets, the right thing to do, but the majority of people do not appreciate that their TIME is an investment in their future, and not realizing and appreciating that fact, most will work their entire life for an hourly paycheck.

Another example of Relative Income is the lyrics to a song. The songwriter invested their time to write the lyrics, composed the music for it, and then every time someone uses it, they receive payment in the form of Royalty. They never have to rewrite the song and it could earn them royalties for generations from their one-time investment of time to create the song.

Think about this.... even when the songwriter is no longer living, their work continues to earn income for their family or trust account. Now that is what I can earning income when doing nothing.

There are thousands upon thousands of Relative Income Products that can be created and I have NOT FOUND ONE PERSON who does not already have 100s of Relative Incomes Products stored in their mind and ready to be set free to do the work for them, and guess what, you will NOT be the first one I find who doesn't have a million dollar idea!

Focus on Building YOUR OWN EMPIRE

Let's Go to the MAT on THIS!

Dynamic Ideas, it should be Impossible for anyone NOT to succeed in their chosen Endeavor.

I think a lot of people have a bad habit of comparing themselves with other people. They look at their friends, schoolmates, neighbors and see in them all the things they want that they don’t have (aka greener grass). The nice car, lots of friends, pretty girlfriend, house, etc. This can cause a host of problems such as depression, feelings of inadequacy, jealousy, anger, etc., all of which are very unhealthy for the mind and body.

My hope for this article is to convince people to not compare themselves to others.

How?

Think of your life as your own empire.

Then, focus on building it.

Do NOT concentrate on other people’s empires (lives). Don’t worry about the guy with the flashy BMW, or the gorgeous girlfriend, or the nice house and job.

Concentrate on building YOUR OWN EMPIRE.

Let me use an example that I learned from one of my past co-workers to explain what I’m talking about. This co-worker, (we’ll call him Tom for privacy’s sake), LOVED to talk about wrestling. If you so much as whispered the words “body slam”, he would show up out of nowhere and talk about how Hogan slammed the Giant at Wrestlemania and how it was the greatest moment ever, but I digress.

He explained the whole history of wrestling to me over the various breaks and lunches that we had. Being the friendly listener that I am, I listened intently and nodded along politely.

According to what I could remember from our detailed conversation, in the 1990s, there were two wrestling companies broadcasting their shows on TV.

One was the WWF (World Wrestling Federation), headed by Vince Mcmahon and the other WCW (World Championship Wrestling), headed by Eric Bischoff.

Up to that point, the WWF was dominating TV ratings. However, WCW started to gain traction. Eric Bischoff’s primary goal was to beat the WWF in TV ratings, which came to known later as the “Monday Night Wars” (Monday night was when both companies broadcasted their shows at the same time). Bischoff was intent on beating the WWF in ratings at all costs.

To do that, Eric Bischoff started broadcasting his shows live on Monday Night. In addition, before his show (WCW) aired, he would spill the results of the pre-taped WWF show to lure WWF audiences to the live WCW show. These tactics worked for quite some time. I believe he beat the WWF for over a year in ratings.

What did the WWF do? Did they put all their energy and focus on beating WCW? Did they get flustered, angry, consumed with jealousy?

No.

Instead, they worked on developing their own talents. They worked on storylines. They created better characters and constantly changed things that weren’t working within their own company.

WCW’s sole goal was to beat WWF on Monday Night. They did anything to make it happen. Trouble was, they didn’t focus on building their own company (empire). They were too busy focusing on the other company.

As a result, chaos reigned within WCW. Decisions were made literally seconds before the show came on and disorder was rampant within the organization.

What was the result? Because the WWF focused on building its own empire, it eventually dominated the ratings and lead to the WWF buying out WCW. They also bought out ECW (another wrestling company). Today, the WWF stands unchallenged in wrestling sports entertainment.

All because the chairman of the WWF decided to focus on building his own empire and not worry about the others.

Now I hope you don’t infer from this article that you should isolate yourself in a cave and become a hermit. You should still be aware of what’s going on around you, but don’t let it consume you. Focus on building your own empire. This applies not only to business, but to your life as well.

So how can you start building your own empire and make it strong?

To do that, let’s look back at the various empires that have ruled the earth and see how we can apply what they have taught us in order to successfully build our own empires.

Let’s start with building roads.

The Roman empire was infamous for building quality roads. The result was faster communication, quicker access to resources, and a network that proved to be extremely useful in times of need, as well as many other benefits.

How can we build our own roads?

Start developing quality relationships.

Make new friends and contacts and don’t just stay idle. Breathe life into the relationships. Send business their way. Help them out. Give without ever expecting anything in return. You will find by doing so, you will build quality roads that will deliver back to you far more than what you expected. You will have quicker access to resources and a network you can depend on when you are down and out.

The great thing about human beings is that once they have been given something of value for absolutely nothing, they have an extremely strong sense of obligation to pay back way more than what they received.

So start today to build quality roads in your empire.

Build An Impenetrable Wall

No, I don’t mean isolate yourself from other people. I mean protect your empire from attack.

You will find your empire under constant attack, not only from people, but from even greater enemies such as fear and doubt. Do NOT let them enter. Keep them outside the walls of your empire and your empire will THRIVE.

When you strive to do more than the ordinary and to go for your dreams, a lot of people will tell you:

“You can’t do it.”
“Dream on.”
“Yeah right, when pigs fly.”

These statements team up with fear and doubt and they slowly start scaling the walls of your empire to invade.

What can you do to stop it?

Build a Powerful Army

Sooner or later, all empires come under attack. The ones that survive have an army that can successfully defend against it.

So how can you build your army?

Start a success journal, either in a spiral notebook, or in a Word document in your computer. Write down all the times that you were able to overcome any problems, any fears, any doubts that you had in life. WRITE IT DOWN!!! If you’ve read my article on how to find what you love to do, you understand the importance of writing it down.

This is a powerful exercise that few people engage in. The majority of people tend to vividly remember their shortcomings, the times they couldn’t overcome, but by really sitting down and digging deep, you will find a plethora of times where you have gone the distance, have gone over the obstacles, and have triumphed. You must do justice to these memories by writing them down!

Think back and write down all the situations and circumstances where you’ve succeeded, despite the odds. Then, start to continuously add to it. No matter how small the victory is, add it to your journal.

By doing this, you slowly start to build up your army. You increase the number of men in your army. You whip them into shape. You give them body armor, swords that are so sharp they can split a hair, shields that can absorb any blows, and courage to overcome any enemies, even those as great as fear and doubt.

So whenever you feel the enemies scaling the walls of your empire, unleash your army (success journal) on them. Open up your success journal. Read from it. Reinforce the fact that many times have come up before that involved great obstacles, but you have overcome them. This time is no different.

Constantly build up your army and unleash them on the invaders that are scaling up the walls of your empire.

You will find that if you consistently do so, they will cease to attack, because they know, they will never win.

Focus on building YOUR OWN EMPIRE by building quality roads, an impenetrable wall, and an unstoppable army to lay down the law, and you will find that comparing yourself to other people was nothing but a big waste of time and energy.

“I’m going to open my own business and make a million dollars.”
“I’m going to lose 100 pounds of fat.”
“I’m going to become a famous movie star!”

Everyday, we hear these grandiose claims made by our family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. They tell us at every opportunity and we nod politely as we listen to them ramble on and on. Time goes by.

Are they any closer to achieving their goals? Did they even take a step in the direction of their goals? The answer (99.9999999% of the time) is NO.

What went wrong? Why couldn’t they achieve their goals or even start for that matter? Was it because they set their goals too high?

The answer is yes. They set their goals too high.

The

n is it wrong to think big? The answer is no.

Confused yet? Let me explain.

Thinking big is great. I encourage you to spend some time everyday and dream about your biggest goal. It’s good nourishment food for the mind.

However, the point I want to make is that thinking big by itself will not do anything for you.

In fact, by doing that alone, it can hinder you.

You must be able to think SMALL first, before you can think big.

When you are “big”, then, and only then, can you really and truly begin to “think big”.

Let’s use the first goal listed in the beginning of this article as an example.

“I’m going to open my own business and make a million dollars.”

Joe Blow decides to think big and boldly states that he will open his own business and make a million dollars. Then he sits down and tries to figure out how to do that.

*crickets chirping in the background*

Joe Blow has NO idea where to begin. He draws up a plan, but quickly dismisses it as it will not bring in a million dollars. He draws up another plan, but doesn’t put much effort in it as well. He has no idea where to start, no concrete plan of action, and as a result, gets very discouraged. He seeks help outside by going to the bookstore and starts buying books such as:

“How to make a million dollars with your own business”.
“How to make a million dollars in real estate”.
“How to become an instant millionaire”, etc.

He devours the books but nothing happens.

What’s going on with Joe Blow? Why can’t he get any traction?

It’s because he’s trying to learn how to make a million dollars with his own business when he hasn’t even learned how to make $1.00 yet.

Seriously. Think how hard it is for you to earn $1.00 of profit with your own business. Don’t be quick to dismiss it and think it’s easy. Really try to do it. Aside from your job, do you think you can make $1.00 of profit?

The book that Joe Blow should’ve bought is:

“How to make your first dollar of profit from your own business and then learn from that and reinvest that money to make two dollars in profit and learn from your experiences to make four dollars of profit and then start to make 8 dollars as you slowly build confidence and momentum to make twenty dollars in profit so you can just keep building upon lesson after lesson, experience after experience, and to keep on learning and building momentum because you know what works and by focusing on setting small measurable goals till you make enough money to think big and leverage your resources to accomplish the big goals you set now that you have the means to do so.”

Michael Dell employed the route of thinking small before thinking big. He started by selling personal computers from his dorm room. Steve Jobs started Apple in his parent’s garage.

If you continue to read the biographies of successful people, you will realize two common themes among them.

1. They just got started. They didn’t wait till conditions were perfect. They just got started.


2. They went through a necessary process of growth to get to where they are today.

The reason why they were able to just get started was because they thought small first, rather than big. If you set a goal of earning a million dollars compared to setting a goal of earning $1 dollar in profit, imagine which goal will propel you to take action more easily.

Once they got started, they were able to go through a necessary process of growth that enabled them to achieve their big goals.

This process of growth is what most people nowadays fear and detest most. Most people want results NOW. We live in a generation of instant gratification. We get radio, TV, video, information at the click of a mouse. We can reach anybody in the world by hitting 10 buttons on a phone. We have the world at our fingertips. We are a spoiled generation not wanting to go through the slow process of growth.

However, you must realize that this process of growth should not be feared or detested.

The process of growth should be EMBRACED.

Why?

Because going through this process of growth will teach you the necessary lessons and skills to achieve the big goal you’ve set.

Focus on thinking small in order to experience the necessary process of growth to achieve your big goal. Then, when you get “big”, you can leverage all your knowledge and resources to accomplish the results of your thinking big.

If you look at the biographies of famous actors/actresses, you will realize that they too just got started and went through a process of growth to get to where they are today. Many just got started by doing embarrassing commercials and TV shows, but that was all part of the process of growth.

Now they are huge mega blockbuster stars. Because they are “big” now, they can truly “think big” and accomplish it easily. If they choose to write an autobiography, it’ll probably become an instant #1 bestseller on the NY Times. If they choose to promote a certain charity, they can easily enlist the help of many people to throw a charity event in one week. They can use their “big” celebrity power to bring attention to issues that are ignored, etc.

The point is, they could’ve only done that when they were “big”, and the only way to become big is to think small and to grow.

I will end this article with a personal story of mine that ties well in with this article.

When I graduated from high school, I was a skinny twig. I probably weighed around 120 pounds soaking wet. I wanted to gain weight and set a lofty goal of 170 pounds. I spent time and money reading and buying products, looking for that magic shake or supplement that would help me gain 50 pounds. None of it worked and I became so discouraged, I quit.

A year later, I picked up the goal of gaining weight again but this time, set a small goal. Gain 5 pounds. Become 125 pounds. This was all it took. This took me out of the mindset of the “quick fix” and propelled me to go through the slow process of growth and to learn.

By having this mindset, I began to find myself reading quality information on bodybuilding. I learned all about proper nutrition, post and pre-workout meals and shakes, proper weight lifting form, the proper number of sets and reps to do, the importance of protein and calories in your diet, etc.

With all that knowledge and the small goal I set, it wasn’t long till I hit 125. Now to you, it may not seem like such a big deal. Whoop de doo. You went from 120 to 125. You want a medal? Why yes, by all means thank you very much!

When I saw the scale climb slowly from 120 to 121 to 122 to 123 to 124 to 125 over a period of weeks, I was thrilled and excited because I knew if I could go from 120 to 125, I could go from 125 to 130, then from 130 to 135, then from 135 to 140, etc.

And that’s exactly what happened. Each small goal when achieved, propelled me to go forward with even more confidence, fuel, determination, and motivation and I continuously picked up more and more information along the journey that made growth faster. In two years, I hit 170.

The point I want to make is:

Think Big -> THEN Think Small -> Grow -> Become “Big” -> Then Accomplish Big Things

4 Network marketing Lies that are Hurting your Business

The 4 Network Marketing Lies that are Hurting Your Business

For millions around the globe Network Marketing represents a
glimmer of hope. After all, a good Network Marketing business
brings along wealth, success and freedom unimaginable to most
business owners.

For the most part, NWM is a sound business model that can create
dramatic lifestyle changes. So then, if the above statement is
true, why is it that so many people fail? The answer to that
question can be found in the four NWM lies. But in order to get a
clearer understanding, lets first talk about the concept of
attrition.

Attrition is a word borrowed by the NWM industry to describe people
who join a company and then quickly fall out. Quick attrition can
be anywhere from the first day to the first year. However,
attrition dramatically lessens for those who have battled it out
and made it through their first year.

Now what does attrition have to do with the 4 NWM lies? Everything.
The fact of the matter is that many people recruit others using one
or more of these 4 lies. These falsehoods turn out to be the
triggering device for most early-on attrition.

Lets now take a look at these dreaded communication mistakes and
see how they can be effecting your success, and most importantly,
how we can eliminate them and reach success all the more sooner.

NWM lie 1: False income expectations: False income expectations are
probably the most used lie in NWM. It is often accompanied by it's
first cousin, the unrealistic time frame lie. Verbalized it sounds
something like this, " In 2 months I was making $5,000 a month," or
"In 6 months I reached the position of "Master of the Universe" and
was making $10,000 a month."

Now that all may have been true... for you. You may have very well
done that. But that communication will now plant the seed in your
prospect that will create a very unrealistic income and time frame.

Because you were able to achieve such an amazing result does not
mean that the next person can. Whenever these words are spoken it
almost always comes back to bite you.

The better approach is to give a low figure to begin with. A good
habit to get into is to simply say; "I can show you a specific plan
so that you can make $500 a month part-time. Once we reach that
goal, together we will work on your first $1000 a month."

That is a huge difference in communication. It inspires trust and
most importantly, it is doable. Don't think for second that people
won't be interested in making an extra $500 a month part-time. $500
a month part-time can be a very attractive proposition, especially
when you offer to show them how to double that into $1000 a month.

Bankruptcy statistics prove conclusively that an additional $200 a
month would have avoided over 90% of U.S. bankruptcies in 2005. In
addition, by setting the bar at an easy mark like $500 a month,
when you do come across a heavy hitter, one of those 3% of people
who takes off running, and this person does make that big check his
first month, you now look like a hero.

You could stop reading right now and if you begin formulating your
communication in this way and your time would be well spent. But
lets go on...

NWM lie 2: Exaggerated product claims: The second big lie is hyping
your product to a point where people expect miracles. For the most
part NWM companies have superior products. But with that said,
avoid promising more than the product can deliver.

If your product is a weight loss product, don't promise 30lbs in 30
days even if there is overwhelming evidence. Let the customer or
recruit experience the results themselves. That way they are coming
back to you raving about the product. This type of excitement
brings about customers that can't stop talking great things about
your products to everyone. This is Network Marketing the way it is
supposed to be.

As opposed to giving a prospect a hyped up expectation and then
having them not meet what you drilled in them. What do you think
they will be telling their friends and family about you and your
product? The exact opposite of what you want. It seems these days
that over zealous companies and representatives are out to prove
their superiority. It's great to have pride in your company and
products. Just watch what you say.

If your product has shown to be beneficial to a particular
condition, by all means point that out. But also make sure to
communicate the fact that everybody is different. And at no time
make any statement that your product can treat or cure a disease.
That can get you and your company in a lot of trouble quickly.

The way to get around this second obstacle is to use curiosity.
Master the question, "Why don't you try it and see the results for
yourself?" Educating your customers and reps with the benefits of
your product, and following up with that question not only creates
sales; it also implants a mental suggestion that gets the person
alert to the benefits. This subtle approach creates a long term
belief in you and your product.

NWM lie 3: This is the world's easiest marketing plan. This is
another big one. You see them on magazines, emails and TV
infomercials. You've heard it before, "All you need to do is get
two people who go out and get two people and before you know it you
have hundreds in your sixth level."

Yes, theoretically it is true. You can sit down and sketch it out
on paper. It may even sound totally logical. But the facts are that
it rarely happens as easy as we would all like.

The reality is that you have to go through a lot of people to find
those first two serious business builders. You have to go through a
lot of rocks to find that one diamond. When you plant lie 3 in a
prospect's mind you set the stage for massive frustration.

A much better approach is to lay the cards down accurately and then
challenge your prospect. A NWM business brings with it total
time freedom, huge financial rewards and unlimited opportunities
for growth. Your job as a master recruiter is to plant those
benefits with such beauty and appeal that the challenge to find the
right people is greatly outweighed by the rewards.

A simple way to accomplish this is by painting an irresistible
picture of what will be achieved by a successful NWM business
and then ask, "Would you be willing to ask 1000 people to take a
look at your business if you could achieve all the success we just
talked about?"

If you get an answer other than an enthusiastic "Yes," you either
have a poor prospect, or you haven't painted a vivid and compelling
enough picture of the benefits. Either way, this method of sorting
guides you to who is serious up front. In addition, this give the
prospect a long term perspective, minimizing attrition.

NWM lie 4: "It only cost xxxx dollars a month." If you are seeking
serious players it is of utmost importance that you be upfront
about the realities of this business.

The product consumption is only one part of the true expenses
incurred in this type of business. You have business cards,
marketing materials, training materials, websites, leads and more.
The danger of quoting your monthly consumption as your only expense
is that you position the prospect as a customer, instead of a
business builder.

Customers are important, but business builders lead to rapid
wealth. Serious business builders are a significant level above
customers. If your intent is to recruit a business builder,
demonstrate the tax benefits associated in the cost of running your
business.

For many the tax benefits alone are a very attractive draw for
joining your opportunity. The key point to get across is that this
is a true business. That being the case, there are some expenses in
order to effectively run a profitable business.

To summarize, the four NWM lies are devastating illusions that will
destroy your credibility and your business. The key to building a
strong team of true business builders is to use truth and help
prospects see the benefits inherent in this business. Your
recruiting numbers may dip a bit, but your retention and the
quality of your team will rise beyond your expectations.

How Much Money Do You Need to Live Your Dreams?

If you’re stuck in a rut and finding it hard to generate
some additional income.

If you’re finding it difficult to take control of your life
so you can begin freeing yourself from the rat race…

…here’s a little method I use that you may find useful:

The first thing you need to realize is that it’s time to
wake up and understand that the time to live is NOW!

Waiting until you retire or when you’re too old to do
anything about it is too late. You need to find a way to
start living the life you want to live TODAY - not tomorrow!

You need to figure out what it is you really want to do.
You need to work out and visualize what your dream
lifestyle really is and how it is you want to live your
life?

To help you do this, grab yourself some paper and a pen
and write down the answer to this question…

If you had 100 million in the bank and there were no
restrictions placed on you, what would you do with your
life?

If you could do anything you ever wanted, what would you
do? How would you spend each day?

Be honest!

Listen. It’s no good just saying that you hate your life
or you hate your job. Saying it never changes anything.

For this to work, you need to invoke passion. You need to
be absolutely clear about what it is you want to do
and then write it down to make everything else fall into
place.

If you don’t do this, nothing after this point will make
any difference. Nothing will change!

Once you’ve got your list of things you want to do and how
you’re going to live your life, work out how much you will
need to do all these things.

This includes all the things that involve your family or
loved ones. If you want to travel you will need to take them
with you, so factor this into your calculations.

I figured I needed at least $3,000 a week to live my
dreams. You may need more, you may need less. The amount is
not important. What is important is that you sit down and
work out what you need, then break it down into smaller
monthly or weekly amounts.

And it’s important to make sure you have enough left over
each week or month to save or invest for your future!

Once you’ve done this, the next step is to believe that
you can actually achieve your goals. This is the biggest
stumbling block facing most people.

It’s one thing saying how you want to live your life, but
it’s a completely different matter believing in yourself that you can actually do it. So you need to be total
positive mental attitude to convince yourself that you CAN
do it.

And don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t!

Family and friends only want what is best for you, but
sometimes without meaning it they can be a negative influence on you and restrict your personal growth.

So visualize what you want to do, and then mentally block
out any negative influences that will stop you achieving
your goals. This includes thinking that you simply can’t
generate the income you need to live your dream lifestyle.

Nothing - and I mean nothing - is impossible if you mix passion with belief!

Ok. Now that you’re clear on how you would like to live your
life and how much money you need each week/month to do
this, it’s time to get off your butt and take action to
make it happen.

Sit down and develop a plan to get started with your
online business. Your plan doesn’t need to be all that
detailed to start with. You just need to do something to
get the ball rolling!

It doesn’t matter what you sell, how you sell it or how
much you make in your first month. The key is to do
something!

It doesn't matter if you feel a little hesitant in getting
started. It’s only natural to be apprehensive when you
venture outside your comfort zone. In time you will adjust.

And don’t worry about making mistakes along the way. You
can fix them. Learn as you go.

You may not make a profit in your second or third month or
fourth month. Don’t give up. Be patient and have faith
in your own abilities. If you want it badly enough, you
will succeed!

Keep thinking positive thoughts and keep visualizing how
you’re going to soon be living the life of your dreams. But
most of all, take the first step to make your dreams come
true.

Take action and continue to learn. The rest will fall into
place!
